Once you’ve got a batch of Toddy cold brew concentrate sitting in the fridge, iced coffee is less a recipe and more an assembly job. No brewing, no waiting, just concentrate, ice, and whatever you like to top it with. This is the drink that makes owning a Toddy Cold Brew System worth it during the summer months.
What you’ll need
- 1/2 cup Toddy cold brew concentrate (see our concentrate recipe if you haven’t made a batch yet)
- 1/2 cup cold water, milk, or a milk alternative — adjust to taste
- A full glass of ice
- Optional: simple syrup, vanilla, or flavored creamer
Step-by-step instructions
1. Have concentrate ready
This recipe assumes you already have a batch of Toddy concentrate made. If not, it takes about 5 minutes of hands-on work and 12-24 hours of hands-off steeping, so it’s worth batching once and drawing from it all week.
2. Fill your glass with ice
Use more ice than feels necessary. A glass packed with ice keeps the drink cold longer and slows down dilution, which matters more with iced coffee than most other cold drinks.
3. Pour the concentrate over the ice
Fill the glass roughly halfway with concentrate. Because it’s already brewed strong, this is the base flavor of your drink before you add anything else.
4. Top with water or milk
Top off with cold water for a black iced coffee, or milk for something creamier. Toddy concentrate’s low acidity means it mixes cleanly with milk without any curdling or sourness, which is part of why it works so well as an iced latte base.
5. Stir, taste, and adjust
Give it a good stir and taste it. Too weak, add more concentrate. Too strong, add more water or milk. There’s no fixed ratio here, just a starting point to tune from.

A few variations worth trying
- Coffee ice cubes. Freeze leftover concentrate in an ice tray so your iced coffee never gets watered down as the ice melts.
- Vanilla oat milk version. Swap in oat milk and a splash of vanilla syrup for something closer to a cafe-style iced latte.
- Sweetened cold brew. Stir simple syrup into the concentrate before pouring over ice, since sugar dissolves poorly in cold liquid on its own.
If you haven’t tried the Toddy Cold Brew System yet, this is one of the simplest everyday payoffs of owning one: a fridge full of concentrate and a glass of iced coffee that takes less time to make than it does to drink.
